About us

The Laboratory of the Institute for Oliveculture at ZRS Koper is a highly specialized infrastructure unit of national importance that has been recognized internationally for many years. The laboratory’s excellence and high level of specialization are confirmed each year by successful participation in international proficiency testing schemes organized under the auspices of the International Olive Council (IOC).

The laboratory has been accredited to SIST EN ISO/IEC 17025 since 2004, and in 2008 it became the first Slovenian laboratory to have its sensory method accredited. It focuses on the highest-quality chemical and sensory analysis of olive oil and other plant-based foods, a metrology network, and ensuring the traceability of measurements.

Its services are intended for producers, companies, professional services, and research institutions, and through its participation in international professional networks, it is firmly integrated into the international scientific and metrological community.
